The First Mass Effect game was a rather unique game and probably the most interesting of the series. It seems like Bioware didn't expect this game to get really far because it seemed like another Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. Ok, Well it did remind me of it. But, Anyway, You start off being in need of a dangerous mission. You must retrieve a mystical stone found on the first human colonization away from Earth. So you get there and realize a spectre there has gone rogue on the military and is trying to retrieve the stone. The main character accidentally activates the stone sending him into unconscious state and he starts having visions of violence and destruction. You wake up and realize you have no idea what these visions mean. So then the game starts off at its best from there. This game had a lot of open world questing, a lot of story. I like how being Good or Bad actually effects the situation in the future games. This game did have it's flaws though, the weapon system was not very reliable and the game constantly glitches on you, I have sat there freaking out that I got stuck in the corner at one of the last levels where you are walking on top of a building in the Citadel. The game constantly needs to be saved because the game will not autosave for you until certain parts, usually a gamer does not want to start at the beginning of the level/game.
In this game you had Ashley, Garrus, Tali, Kaidan, Wrex, and Liara. They were your team members in the game that you got to take out with you during missions. My favorite team member is Garrus of course. With Ashley and Kaidan you get to choose who you want to save during a mission. And they remain in all of your later games. Not to mention you get to choose classes, Soldier, Vanguard, Engineer, Adept etc. my favorite class was Vanguard. Those classes are pretty unique you can choose to be a straight up soldier, to a mystical energy user shooting waves out of your hands.
This game was great, Great story, Great Visuals, and you really never ran out of things to do. But, the game was glitchy and some of the controls and save techniques were hard to get used to.
I will rate this game a 8/10 for being the second best Mass Effect game I have ever played and one of the best games I have ever played.
